Director of Data Analytics, U.S. Department of Commerce - Office of Inspector General
Andrew Brown (B.S.W. ’11, B.A. ’11, M.P.A. ’14) leads a team of data scientists focused on providing analytic services for audits and investigations aimed at evaluating the performance of the department’s programs and addressing allegations of fraud, waste and abuse of taxpayer funds. He began his career with the agency through the Presidential Management Fellowship, a program for which, through his ongoing relationship with the Georgia State’s Andrew Young School, he actively encourages Panthers to apply. Brown also stays involved with GSU by hosting cohorts of students at the U.S. Department of Commerce as part of the university’s Panthers in the District immersive learning program.
Prior to his career in the federal government and while attending Georgia State, Brown worked with Atlanta-based refugee resettlement offices, Catholic Charities Atlanta and New American Pathways, assisting in the resettlement of newly arrived international families. Brown has maintained involvement with the refugee community through a detail at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement. Brown began leaving a legacy at his alma mater during graduate school as the founding vice president of the university’s Anime Club.
