Assistant Professor, Augusta University
A triple Panther, Dr. Ashwini Tiwari (M.P.H. ’10, M.S. ’12, Ph.D. ’16) is an assistant professor in the Institute of Public and Preventative Health at Augusta University and the director of its B-STRONG Lab. Tiwari’s work focuses on reducing health disparities among people at high risk of or victimized by family violence. She has a special interest in improving stress physiology among victimized youth populations who receive trauma-based care and received the coveted NARSAD Young Investigator Award to pursue this work.
After completing her Ph.D. in public health, Tiwari was selected to be a Lawson Postdoctoral Fellow at the Offord Centre for Child Studies at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. A much-published researcher, Tiwari is currently working to expand trauma services and child maltreatment prevention curricula for community leaders in seven counties surrounding the Augusta area as part of a National Child Traumatic and Stress Network Award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration.
