Biplab Datta (Ph.D. ’17), an applied microeconomist and an emerging scholar in public and population health, is an assistant professor in the Institute of Public and Preventive Health and the Division of Health Economics and Policy at Augusta University. Datta leads the annual Healthy Georgia Report, which analyzes health outcomes of Georgians in comparison to neighboring states in the Southeast and the United States with the goal of connecting public health leaders, stimulating conversations about public health needs, and promoting action and funding. In addition to this vital annual report, Datta has published 55 peer-reviewed journal articles and has served on the editorial board of two respected health journals.
Datta is actively involved with helping guide Georgia State economics students in their professional pursuits. In addition to giving talks in seminars arranged by the Department of Economics, he promotes GSU students through his research network and provides research opportunities for students to coauthor papers with him.
