Vice President of Government Relations, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
John T. Smith (B.B.A. ’10) is vice president of government relations for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, with extensive experience in healthcare policy and Georgia politics. Smith previously served as the director of government relations for Shepherd Center, a top-10 nationally ranked brain and spinal rehabilitation hospital in Atlanta. He similarly served as the director of government relations for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice where he focused on securing annual appropriations for the department and worked on aspects of juvenile justice reform. Smith also worked for Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle in multiple roles, including serving in policy roles in his official office and on statewide campaigns.
Smith has served on the board of directors for BlazeSports America since 2019, which was formed as the legacy organization of the 1996 Paralympic Games held in Atlanta after the 1996 Summer Olympics. BlazeSports focuses on adaptive sports and programming for Georgia’s youth and veterans with physical disabilities. He is also a board member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
