Senior Assistant District Attorney, Office of the DeKalb County District Attorney
TyShawn Jackson (B.B.A. ’05) leads the firearm violence prevention unit and prosecutes violent felonies for the Office of the DeKalb County (Ga.) District Attorney. As an assistant district attorney, Jackson has managed caseloads of more than 200 criminal cases across all seven state court divisions in DeKalb County. She began her legal career in 2012 as a law clerk and staff attorney to the Hon. Asha F. Jackson, superior court judge in Decatur, Ga., and has worked for either the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office or the Office of the Solicitor since.
Jackson has performed more than 400 hours of pro bono services in the DeKalb County Disability and Public Benefits Clinic and has received honors for her work there. She has held various leadership positions in legal and civic organizations, including:
• Georgia Association of Women Lawyers.
• National Association of Black Prosecutors.
• Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., for which she was elected chapter president as a student at Georgia State.
• Junior League of DeKalb.
